Mona-Vie Answers Quixtar Suit

Mona-Vie Answers Quixtar Suit

Less than 2 weeks after Quixtar (Amway) announced they were pursuing legal action against Mona-Vie, Mona-Vie responds with an industry initiative to end restrictive contracts that have been the hallmark of companies like Amway to keep distributors out of other network marketing companies.

In an effort to out flank Quixtar in public opinion, Mona-Vie said it seeks to to promote and protect the rights of distributors and of those consumers who are seeking career opportunities with network marketing and direct selling businesses. MonaVie encourages other companies to join in the Open Door campaign (www.blog.opendoorcampaign.com) and take the Open Door Pledge. In addition, distributors are invited to the site to share their opinions and experiences.

I sympathize with the Monavie position (or more technically, the quixtar reps who want to move on without interference). No MLM company should have so much control--they already have the power to change comp plans on a whim. If there is one problem with MLM, it is the balance of power between the company and its distributors.

I have been researching Monavie, and have found mixed reviews on the product itself. Here is a good example of several consumer reviews: http://www.nutritionaltree.com/reviews/antioxidants/acai/monavie_monavie-acai-juice.aspx

Not sure what to make of them...

Thanks for your post Lee...

There is not much debate on the effectiveness of nutritional products and a healthy diet on our overall vitally and quality of life.

One thing that any consumer needs to be aware of is that distributors can sometimes get carried away in their enthusiasm for their product. In the short term this may increase sales but in the long term some people get left holding the end of the match and get burned.

I would be more concerned about what the company officially says and what they tacitly allow distributors to say about the product. As with any nutritional product - results are never universal. That's because each of our metabolisms and nutritional need are different.
