The economy sucks... What about your network marketing business?

I remember being told in my early days that network marketing actually works better when the economy is bad. Yet what I have found over the past 15 years in working with both marketers and company owners is that’s not always the case.

Ignoring it only prevents us from solving the problem!

Network marketing companies are like any other company selling a product or service. The bottom line is that when the economy is tight people think twice about buying a $40 bottle of juice or a $50 tube of facial toner.

So why are we so excited?

Because we have a solution that makes good or bad results your own choice!

One effect of a slow economy is a longer sales cycle. It’s taking longer for prospects to make a decision and they are more carefully considering their options.

If you’re not communicating effectively you are already feeling the effects. You’re finding yourself regularly dealing with unqualified prospects, objections, lack of response, irritated or rude prospects, prospects that aren’t interested or prospects that join with someone other than you.

If you’re marketing in the stereotypical “show and tell” mode, or if you assume you know what your prospects wants before they express it to you, you’re in for a rude awakening. And if you’re not following a comprehensive follow-up plan – including talking with your prospect by phone about their wants – it won’t work - you might as well save your money and watch TV.

But that’s not why you got into network marketing is it?
