Stop blaming your upline for your lack of success...
Sometimes the best-intentioned advice can kill your business...
I recently talked with a distributor of one of the top 5 biggest network marketing companies about advice he was given regarding growing his business.
The company was telling distributors to make at least one prospecting call a day. If they did that they were told that 30% would join. Naturally, he was excited to get started and figured that all he needed were some leads.
The problem is that this advice is lacking in key details… and we all know the devil is in the details!
There’s no mention of what types of prospects to call – are they warm market, cold, ad responders, facebook friends?
There’s no mention of what approach to take - taking the same approach with the lead options above would be suicide.
And that number of 30%… where did that come from? How was it tracked and with how many people? Because frankly… it’s way high as an average even for those spending thousands every month generating their own leads.
The problem is that this kind of advice might get people excited about getting into action, but it opens the door for criticism of our industry and for unscrupulous self proclaimed guru’s to run ad campaigns claiming your company and upline are lying to you... or that leads don't work.
The key for anyone really serious about network marketing success is to be his or her own leader… what do I mean by this?
Being your own leader is about taking responsibility for your own business and the results of the actions you take or do not take. While you really don’t have to be a marketing expert to earn some good money, you also can’t ignore reality and just assume your actions will bring you success.
A little research goes a long way!
