If you want to succeed in network marketing, think like an artist...
I can’t tell you how many people tell me they wish their business would just take off.
In many cases these folks have fallen victim to one of network marketing’s big fallacies – that other people will do the selling for you. While duplication is one of the big factors behind those who have big success and those who have only a little... waiting around for someone else to get their act in gear is not only foolish it’s a surefire way to fail.
Success will only come to those who turn off the television and stop postponing the actions that lead to success. It won’t fall out of the sky and land in your lap!
Think about it like this…
If you wanted to paint a beautiful painting what would you do?
You would most likely start by doing a little research into painting. You would find out more about what’s involved, what kind of tools you would need and what kind of investment you would need and if it’s something that would actually be right for you.
Once you decided that you want to pursue things from there, you would need to shop for some art supplies. Odds are that you wouldn’t go for the most expensive brushes or paints and you would probably start painting on paper not expensive top grade canvas. You would go with something that would get you started and would fit with the style of painting you plan on doing.
You would also recognize that simply having brushes, paper and some paint hardly makes you an artist. You would most likely enroll in some art classes at you local community center or college. If you could afford it, you would likely try to get some personal mentoring from an artist you respect and admire. Then after many, many paintings, paying your dues and going through your learning curve you might be considered a real artist.
Compare this to how most people approach their network marketing business…
Few people in network marketing spend any time at all researching the industry, different companies or how compensation work and why they matter more than anything else. They jump on the first promise and are then disappointed when it turns out that there is more to success than they first thought.
A small percentage do their homework and take time to get just the right brushes and paints. They have their computer software, their marketing materials and they are ready to make a go at it.
Then they put it all aside and wait for the masterpiece to somehow paint itself.
Logic and experience tell us that it never will and yet this mindset is so common in network marketing that people sometimes get upset at the suggestions that success requires action – not just any action – action that is applied from tested and proven methods.
Experience also tells us that the quickest way to get there is to get training or mentoring from someone or someplace that has a proven track record. And even then, to expect expert results right out of the starting gate is another built-in setup for frustration and failure.
Becoming an expert requires experience.
Experience only comes from doing.
FACT: The average networker receives ZERO to 3 hours of training and is told that they can create their six figure masterpiece. This "technically true" bit of misinformation is the root cause of the high rate of failure. When things turn out not quite as easy as imagined, people give up and quit - ending any chance to truly build a successful business.
Now, doesn't it make sense to do it right from the beginning?
